Tierra Amira Jones as DJ Full Xposure
What’s your full name and where are you from?
Tierra Amira Jones and I’m originally from Washington DC! I am now based in Los Ángeles.
Tell us a little about your business
I originally moved to Los Angelos to pursue acting. That was it. My main purpose. I never saw myself getting into Music especially music producing and DJing. I remember, I was on set of a tv show and I met this girl that was a DJ at the time with her twin sister. As time went on, I always saw her downloading and queuing new music for her DJ sets during our downtime on set. Now, around the same time, I had been music producing a little but with acting and being on sets, I could not put as much time as I wanted into it. However, my heart still yearn to do something in music. One day it struck me to ask my friend that I had met if she would teach me how to DJ. She immediately responded then her and her twin sister took me under their wings.
Furthermore, what she exactly told me was “ Hey, I talked to my sister and we have an event coming up in three weeks. If you are comfortable, you can open and do a 1 hour set for the event!” With no hesitation, and not even the slightest idea of how to DJ, I accepted the offer. So for those following three weeks, I downloaded a ton of music, started queuing it and practiced with the twins as much as I could! But the time the three weeks had passed and it was time for the event, I was nervous as hell but history was made that night. That night I became DJ Full Xposure.
What makes you different as a person and also what separates you from the rest of your peers in your industry?
I believe what makes me different as a DJ is how I flow and vibe with the music and with the crowds. Firstly, I chose the name DJ Full Xposure because of the way music makes me feel. Listening to or hearing music is the only time I truly feel comfortably exposed or vulnerable. Music brings emotions and feelings out of me that may not be understood on the surface. With that said, I want to be able to make people feel the same way. Whether I’m DJing or producing, I want people to feel comfortably vulnerable and I want to make them feel! With that said, when I DJ I don’t plan the music choices in my set, I completely follow the vibes of the people and the environment! Nothing is planned but everything strategically flows.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
In 5 years, I see myself still pursuing my first love acting, and doing more television shows and movies. Additionally, in terms of music I see myself touring more as a DJ either for artists or doing festivals. Moreover, I see myself continuing to do radio. I have been a resident DJ for a show on Dash Radio and had my own radio show called “Music Xposed” on Ethel’s Club. I definitely want to expand on those two aspects in my career!
What legacy do you wish to leave behind?
To me, leaving a legacy is an important part of your life’s work. I want to leave my legacy by supporting the people and causes that are important to me! Furthermore, I want to share my blessings with everyone! I once read somewhere that everyone has blessings to share even if it’s just a simple smile of acknowledgement. I want to be a mentor to others and inspire people to follow their dreams and the make the right sacrifices to do so. Lastly, my passions are my legacy. So I want to continue to pursue my passions because they are infectious!
