Darius Johnson, known by his artist name SlimeyDarro, is making waves in the music industry with his distinctive melodic style and captivating performances. Born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, Johnson has since made the move to Atlanta, Georgia, where he continues to hone his craft and build a loyal fanbase.

“I love making music because it makes a lot of people happy and changes the tone in the room for people that may be having a bad day,” Johnson says. “My music seems to always put a smile on people’s faces. The same vibe when some Thug comes on, or Sahbabii or MoneyMan.”

What sets SlimeyDarro apart from the average artist is his refusal to conform to the typical drill and violence-focused content prevalent in the genre. Instead, he brings a more melodic and versatile sound, drawing inspiration from artists like Lil Keed, who passed away in 2022.

“I bring a completely different sound rather than what the average person brings on a beat,” Johnson explains. “To me, rapping about drill and killing people is played out. I have more of a melodic sound from 2015–2019 but with a little bit of a twist. But my growth doesn’t stop there. I’m going to always keep elevating my sound as I grow.”

In the next five years, Johnson sees himself continuing to make music and expand his reach, potentially securing a record deal and establishing multiple business ventures. His primary focus, however, remains on taking care of his family and passing down his knowledge and skills to the next generation of artists.

“I want to be able to accomplish securing a record deal with no funny business, elevating my music as high as possible and put all my people on, and as a main priority, take care of the fam,” he says. “I want to have my music playing in Foot Locker stores, possibly some TV scene shows, and clubs and lounges.”

As SlimeyDarro continues to make his mark on the industry, he hopes to be remembered as a unique and influential artist who brought a sense of unity and positivity to his audience through his music. And while he may share a resemblance with fellow artist 2rare, Johnson is determined to forge his own path and legacy.

“I just wanna be remembered by the guy that looks like 2rare that don’t dance but makes some fire ass music,” he laughs. “A lot of people say I look like him, which is crazy because I don’t dance. I want to meet him and take a picture so people can see we are two different people.”

With his unwavering passion, innovative sound, and driven mindset, SlimeyDarro is poised to leave an indelible mark on the music world, inspiring others and paving the way for a new era of artistic expression.
