What’s your full name/artist name and where are you from?
My name is William Loftin, but professionally known as Rookie2x. I was born in Germany, but was raised in Louisiana.
What makes you different as a person/artist?
Well, I don’t sound like a toddlers bedtime story that rhyme. I blend my pain as well as punchlines and metaphors into one. And what you hear is what you get. Lol. I write all my own music. It’s my life. That’s why I’m not scared to invest my last dollar to be heard, I literally just got scammed out of $1,700, but I can’t be broken. I feel music industry is just like the lottery. Your gonna loose more than you win. But the win is so much greater when it comes. A lot of artists chase the money and never get it. I lost to much time looking for stuff, and can’t find it. But once I stop looking, oh snap there it go. I have a never ending goal. Tupac died in the 90’s and still being played heavy. That’ll be Rookie2x. Not a comparison. Just my self goal, and I’m to consistent and invested to fail. My next release is called, “Perfect N…”, I performed it for TooOfficial with QC, and many other A&Rs. I didn’t even know it what that good. That night me and friend shot video to it. Never slept, and we ride into work at 6 to punch in. You have to loose to win. But I can’t loose. My heart won’t let me.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
In five years, I see myself in somebody’s studio. I literally work 6am-6pm. But drive over an hour to work. Soon as I hit the car, writing or rehearsing. When I walk into the house, strictly studio. I do see myself with a lot of money, nice cars, house, and well known. But that doesn’t make Rookie2x any better than anybody else. I’ll forever remain humble. In five years, I feel I’ll be featured on songs with two artist I listen to. Meek Mill and J.Cole. My opinion most lyrically artists in the game. And Meek Mill is very underrated. But I understand his lingo.
