What’s your artist name and where are you from?
Taylor Rae. I’m from Cincinnati, OH.
Why do you love music?
Music brought me and my oldest sisters closer together. They would play the latest songs for me and explain to me why it was such a good song. We’d analyze lyrics and everything. I love how one song can be interpreted in multiple ways. I love how you can create a whole mood through a song. It really is like magic.
What makes you different as a music artist?
I don’t try to be different, I’m just true to myself and since we’re all unique; that, by default, makes me different. When you listen to my music, you’ll immediately realize I’m not like most female rappers out right now. I don’t talk about the same things; I don’t dress the same way. I live in a nice neighborhood with my parents who have been married for over 20 years. I love fashion, boys, makeup, new hair styles, some good tea….stuff like that. I’m confident in real life so that confidence naturally shows up in my lyrics. I’m clever in real life, so my cleverness naturally shows up in my music.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

I’ll be using my platform to bring attention to issues that I feel are important to the black community, black women especially. I see myself using my very large platform (that I will have built by then) to provoke change in a positive way. I don’t want to JUST inspire young people to pursue their goals and dreams; I want to actually be in a position where I’m able to offer tangible resources to them too.
What do you want to accomplish in life?
I think that is something that is constantly going to change for me. Right now, I hope my streams hit in the millions for at least one song on my mixtape coming out. I have an herbal beauty brand named Princess Mudd Herbal Beauty that I…
