What’s your artist name and where are you from?
My name is Jantu, and I’m an independent artist from Atlanta, Georgia.
Why do you love music?
I have a deep love for music, because it allows me to express myself without fear of judgement. It’s an outlet for all the feelings I don’t particularly feel comfortable sharing in normal day-to-day conversations. The process of making music just gives me this feeling of freedom, that lets me unpack all of the emotions and feelings that I usually bottle up. My catalog of music is essentially an open diary for the world.
What makes you different as a music artist?
It takes a little while to get used to my style. My sound has been described as quite unique, because I don’t stick to one genre. For example, my last album, ‘VACATION!’, had elements of rock, hip-hop, R&B, electronic, acoustic, and more! I don’t put myself in a box, because sometimes it’s easier to express certain feelings with one genre, than another. Honestly, for me, there are no rules to the game when it comes to creating art. I do whatever I want, without worrying about how it will be received. Art is subjective.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
In 5 years, I’ll still be making music. It’s a part of my DNA. However, aside from making music, I also run a platform that goes by the name of ‘Noisy Future’. The platform is dedicated to pushing underground art, music, & culture forward. Noisy Future’s mission is to provide local independent artists with a platform that allows them to showcase their art to an audience that’s actively looking to support them. Currently, I achieve this by bringing independent artists and fans of all genres together in intimate, unique spaces. I host live music shows inside of local art studios. In 5 Years, likely less, Noisy Future will be an established name and label in the global music industry, known for providing dedicated independent artists with fair opportunities.
What do you want to accomplish in life?
Honestly, I have quite a few dreams that I’d like to actualize throughout my life. Though there are many, they all interconnect in one way or another, and lead to the next dream I don’t know I have yet. I hope I didn’t confuse you guys…
