Who are your biggest musical influences?

My biggest musical influences are Eminem, Drake, and Earl Sweatshirt. From my beginnings, I studied Eminem’s lyricism, flow, and ability to change the sounds of words and make words that don’t necessarily rhyme, rhyme by how you deliver them. I learned a lot about cadence and pacing myself with nonchalant omniscience on records from Drake. Being from Canada and from the Toronto area, he is a big inspiration for the melody in my sound, my narrative like structure, and the Torontonian aura around my hunger for success. Earl Sweatshirt influenced my vernacular. I have a degree in English Language and Literature from Western University and Earl always made me want to flex my own lyrical muscles when writing. Other big influences of mine include Jay Z, J.Cole, Kendrick Lamar, and The Weeknd.

What are some of your biggest accomplishments?

One of my biggest accomplishments with music thus far is working with Snaz, Drakes Childhood friend “Renny” who he dedicates his “Views” record “Weston Road Flows” to. Renny produced a song off of my “The Story Is Documented” project, called “Weston Road Ripple”, where I paid homage to the original record by suggesting that I am the result of the ripple effect an artist like Drake causes, having such an impact in the scene of hip hop; inevitably inspiring new talent with massive potential. The fact his childhood friend supported the idea and produced the song for me makes it a special record. Another would be having my single “Zendaya” go viral and trend on twitter due to one of the lyrics “Tom Holland better pray up” blowing up online and being shared around the world. it’s unheard of for a Canadian Artist who is unsigned to garner that much attention from a record overnight like that. Lastly, being recognized as an exceptionally talented wordsmith by up and coming Canadian artists who have either worked with me, or known me since the beginning of our journeys in music. Some of these artists include TOBi, Haviah Mighty, and Always Never.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

In 5 years I see myself being one of the biggest artists in the world. Often when people hear my music they notice a difference. There is something unique about how I put my words together, the sporadic nature of my versatility on records, and my extensive general knowledge I present in a very mainstream way. I truly believe I can be a force in the music industry with my abilities. The product is there. The craft has been honed. Now it’s all just about being seen and heard. Once that happens, success is inevitable.

What legacy do you wish to leave behind?

I have always been about legacy. I want to be successful in all aspects but more than anything; I want my music to inspire people with a passion to work towards their dreams. I want people to look at me and what I accomplish and through that, obtain belief that they can reach their goals as well. When they hear and see my story, I want them to think of their own ideals/goals and think “What If It’s Me?”.
