First Glance at Lady J.
What is your full name?
My full name is Leanna (Janai) Johnson, but I do prefer to go by Janai and/or Lady J. when I am on set. I am 19 years old and I am originally from Jacksonville, Fl. However, i currently reside in Madison, TN.
Who are your biggest influences?
My biggest influences in my life are my parents, Tyra Banks, and Cardi B.
My parents have shown me drive by always getting what they need and want done by any means necessary. They both have sacrificed so much and have worked very hard to get to the point that they are now.
Tyra Banks inspires me because she too has worked very hard to be one of the greatest supermodels internationally. Even after she has retired from modeling, she creates more opportunities for people like me to realize their dreams. She is now helping breakdown the wall that keeps many beautiful people out of the industry because of the “cookie-cutter” beauty standards. I aspire to be one of the success stories of beauty out of the social norm.
Lastly, Cardi B, inspires me simply because she is and always have been unapologetically. herself no matter what. She is confident in who she is and does not let other peoples opinions or words alter who that is. She is someone i look up to in that aspect because I at one point had problems staying true to my identity. Nowadays not so much because she further inspired me to just be who I am.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
In 5 years I see myself gracing the covers of many magazines such as Vogue, Allure,Nylon, and ELLE magazines. I also see myself building my own fashion line that mainly targets my fellow members of the black and brown communities but is indeed open to everyone. I want it to be a brand about feeling confident in your own skin and being able to express it freely in my styles which wont be limited to just clothing, but branched out into accessories, shoes, bags, and makeup products.
